If anything in these terms is unclear, please contact us before proceeding. We are always happy to explain.

The Green Dot Agency ("we", "us", "our") is a private investigation agency providing discreet digital intelligence, open-source investigation, and covert surveillance services across the United Kingdom.
Full legal company name, registered address, and Companies House registration number to be added here once incorporated.
References to "you" and "your" in these terms refer to any person who uses our website or engages our services.
By accessing and using this website, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
We reserve the right to restrict access to the website at any time without notice.
We provide private investigation services including, but not limited to, digital intelligence analysis, open-source intelligence (OSINT) investigation, location and movement analysis, background checks, covert physical surveillance, and legal evidence preparation.
We reserve the right to decline any instruction we consider unlawful, unethical, or outside our capability. We will always tell you clearly if we cannot assist, and we will not charge for any work not carried out.
By engaging our services, you confirm and warrant that:
Important: Misuse of investigation services or evidence — including using information obtained to harass, stalk, intimidate, or harm another person — is a serious criminal offence. We will cooperate fully with law enforcement in any such case. If at any point during an investigation we form a reasonable belief that our services are being used for an unlawful purpose, we reserve the right to terminate the engagement immediately without refund.
We conduct all investigations strictly within the law. All methods we use are lawful under UK legislation including, but not limited to, the Human Rights Act 1998, the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000, the Data Protection Act 2018, and UK GDPR.
In practical terms, this means:
Evidence gathered and reports produced by The Green Dot Agency are intended to meet UK legal admissibility standards. However, we make no guarantee that any specific court or tribunal will admit particular evidence, and we recommend you seek independent legal advice regarding the use of evidence in any proceedings.
Please review and confirm the specific legislative references are correct and current. Confirm whether reference to the Private Security Industry Act 2001 and any licensing obligations is required.
Our fees are confirmed in writing in your individual engagement agreement before any work begins. We will not commence an investigation without a written agreement in place. Indicative pricing shown on our website is for guidance only and may vary depending on the complexity and scope of your case.
Payment terms are set out in your engagement agreement. We typically require a deposit before commencing work, with the balance due on delivery of your report. We accept bank transfer and card payment via our secure payment processor.
Cancellation and refund rights for consumers are governed by the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. The right to cancel a service contract within 14 days needs careful drafting for an investigation service where work may commence promptly at the client's request. Specific refund policy to be drafted with solicitor advice.
You may cancel your engagement at any time by notifying us in writing. Cancellation terms — including any refund of deposits for work not yet commenced — are set out in your individual engagement agreement. Work already carried out at the point of cancellation will be charged at the applicable rate.
If you are a consumer (not acting in the course of business), you may have statutory cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Full details of these rights will be provided in your engagement agreement.
We take confidentiality extremely seriously. We will not disclose any information about you, your case, or the subject of any investigation to any third party except as set out in our Privacy Policy.
In return, we ask that you treat any information we share with you — including our methods, tools, and operational practices — as confidential. You agree not to disclose details of our investigative methods to third parties.
Your engagement agreement will include a mutual confidentiality clause, the terms of which shall survive termination of the agreement.
All reports, evidence packages, documents, and other materials we produce in the course of an investigation are prepared for your personal use in relation to the matter for which they were commissioned. Once paid for in full, you have the right to use these materials for that stated purpose.
You may not reproduce, publish, share publicly, or use our reports for any purpose other than that for which they were commissioned without our prior written consent.
All content on this website — including text, design, branding, and imagery — is the intellectual property of The Green Dot Agency and may not be copied, reproduced, or used without our written permission.
This clause requires specific legal drafting. Consumer protection law (Consumer Rights Act 2015) restricts the ability to limit liability to consumers for certain things. This section must be reviewed carefully to ensure it is enforceable, appropriately limits liability for B2C contracts, and does not inadvertently breach consumer rights legislation. The solicitor should consider whether professional indemnity insurance coverage amounts should be referenced here.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under applicable UK consumer protection legislation.
We are committed to providing an excellent service. If you are unhappy with any aspect of our work, please contact us in the first instance:

We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 business days and aim to resolve it within 14 days. If we are unable to resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, we will explain your options for further recourse.
If the agency joins the ABI (Association of British Investigators), there may be an ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) scheme available to clients. If so, reference and link to it here as required under the Alternative Dispute Resolution for Consumer Disputes Regulations 2015.
These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, except where mandatory applicable consumer protection laws provide otherwise.
If the agency operates from a specific jurisdiction within the UK (e.g. Bolton / Greater Manchester), consider whether the governing law clause should reference England and Wales or specifically English law. Confirm whether this is appropriate given the nationwide service area.
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of our website or services after changes are published constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
Your individual engagement agreement, once signed, will not be affected by subsequent changes to these general terms.
